Federal, provincial and municipal government executives have started to outsource their IT and business processes. Early initiatives involved the externalization of IT infrastructure, but executives are now considering other areas.
In this study IDC Canada examines the adoption of IT and business process outsourcing in the Canadian government sector. The document includes an analysis of investment plans in IT and business process outsourcing and the reason why various levels of government are outsourcing. The study provides valuable insight, prediction and prescription for external vendors targeting the Canadian government sector market on how to win outsourcing contracts.
"IDC believes that outsourcing and operations-related services will be the largest and fastest growing segment of IT services spending in government. Vendors that want to capture a share of spending must have a comprehensive offering including infrastructure and application management and attack first government sub-segments and geographical areas that show high readiness" Says Massimiliano Claps, Senior Research Analyst, IDC Canada Customer Segments.
