| Mobile broadband is usually associated with the telecom industry’s most developed markets, conjuring up images of sleek laptops and fancy 3G phones. However, Pyramid Research believes that mobile broadband will have a large role to play in some of the world’s least developed telecom markets. Africa’s low Internet penetration rate, combined with rising GDP per capita and 3G rollouts by competing mobile operators, means that the region is on the verge of a broadband boom that will be a very attractive opportunity for mobile operators.
