This IDC study presents the latest forecast of the Americas packaged applications software revenue segmented by 18 vertical markets and four company size categories for 2006-2010.

Noel Stevens, senior analyst, IDC Software Vertical Views, states, "The Americas applications software market was $54.8 billion in 2005 and is forecast to increase to $76.5 billion in 2010, a 6.9% five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR). During the five-year forecast period, IDC projects the three fastest-growing industries to be healthcare, communications and media, and government, which are estimated to grow at 9.8%, 8.4%, and 8.1%, respectively."
