Analysis Summary
- The Brazilian residential broadband market is as competitive as ever. Cable companies and mobile operators have been expanding their offerings by adding broadband to their original services, which benefits users as prices fall and puts pressure on fixed telcos, which typically had dominated the broadband segment with ADSL.
- Fixed operators are turning to different sources for growth, specifically the small and medium business (SMB) market. In order to address this type of client, one single aspect is key: Simplicity.
- With the push in SMB adoption, Pyramid Research expects business broadband to offset a slight decrease in PSTN voice lines and grow at an 18% CAGR from 2007 to 2013, reaching 3.5m accounts by year-end 2013.
