This IDC study updates the previously published Asia/Pacific Branded Tape Drive 2005-2009 Forecast and Analysis: Semiannual Update (IDC #AP264101M, February 2006). It relates to the single tape drive market and provides the following market data:
A summary of the market in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ in 2005 Revenue and unit shipments broken down by country and technology/format Forecasts for the market from 2006 to 2010 in the region, as well as a separate section for each of the 12 countries, by technology/format
According to Cheryl Ganesan-Lim, associate market analyst, Storage Research, IDC Asia/Pacific, "The overall APEJ single tape drive market is expected to contract, as user organizations migrate to higher-capacity drives and automation systems. However, developing economies such as the People's Republic of China (PRC), India, and Indonesia are expected to remain high-growth markets. In terms of technology, a surge in uptake of the linear tape open (LTO) format is expected, but at the expense of scalable linear recording (SLR) and half-inch formats, which are projected to fall significantly.
