This IDC study examines the dynamics of the LAN Switch market in Asia/Pacific for the year 2002. The geographic coverage of this study includes Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, PRC, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. The study covers all routers being shipped by international and local vendors.
"LAN switches registered a 9.9% growth in 2003 reaching US$2.07 billion after a decline of 3.2% in the prior year. Of the overall Asia/Pacific LAN switch market, eight countries experienced growth with the highest being India with 40.2% growth over 2002, Australia at 30.7%, and Malaysia at 22.4%," said Jian Sern Loo Market Analyst Enterprise Network & Telco Research ? IDC Malaysia.
While most of the countries experienced modest to strong market growth, four countries grew negatively in 2003: the Philippines at -26.4%, Hong Kong at -17.8%, Singapore at -15.4% and Taiwan at -1.1%.
