This IDC study seeks to be the ultimate compendium for the end-user spending on outsourcing in the region. IDC looks at each of the 11 countries covered in this study as individual markets. As a region, IDC projects that IT outsourcing spend in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ will surpass the US$10 billion mark in 2006, and is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.9% between 2005 and 2010.
According to Eugene Wee, senior analyst, IT Services Research, IDC Asia/Pacific, "One of the key findings of this study is the apparent shift toward discrete outsourcing. This can be thought of realizing the diseconomies from large IS outsourcing deals as well as the compelling propositions from a new breed of niche outsourcing players. One thing that is key to note, however, is that this does not spell the demise of IS outsourcing deals. In percentage terms, IS outsourcing may appear to be lagging; the reality in many cases is that the absolute numbers are as significant, if not more so than the sum of discrete outsourcing engagements."
