This IDC study provides detailed insight into the current state of the Australian business continuity market. IDC's end-user research suggests spending on technology and services to deliver business continuity solutions will depend on the degree to which IT product and services providers in this space are able to successfully educate the market, and invest in sales and marketing initiatives. "IDC believes procurement of IT technology and services is and will continue to be driven by business requirements and large strategic IT projects rather than point product deployments. Vendors will need to focus on delivering products and services that respond to business requirements. Business continuity is more about ensuring that a business can continue to function in the event that there is a security breech, national disaster, or denial of service attack. End users require consulting, implementation, and/or managed services as well as numerous technologies throughout the organisation and datacentre in order to implement a business continuity solution. The complexity and range of products and services required to deliver business continuity will be a challenge for most vendors to meet customer requirements effectively. As a result, IDC believes that there will likely be a number of new partnerships as well as acquisitions and convergence in the emerging business continuity space," says Megan Dahlgren, Market Analyst Software, IDC Australia.
