This IDC study analyses the impact of the changing dynamics in the government IT spending on the corresponding opportunities available to printing and imaging vendors. The study takes a simultaneous close look at the evolving printing and imaging needs, usage patterns, and buying behaviour of government businesses in Australia. Insights into both demand- and supply-side dynamics are brought together, as the research combines input from an up-close study of the government with IDC's ongoing research on printing and imaging, and IT spending in order to provide a forward-looking and actionable analysis for hardcopy peripheral vendors.
"Despite the government's healthy demand for printing and imaging hardware products and services, doing business with the government will continue to be challenging. Vendors will be faced with the government's stronger-than-ever negotiation power and demands for high-end hardware and high-quality services at very low prices. Vendors will have to make tough decisions including whether they can afford to do business with the government. IDC expects some vendors to drop out from the race as they will be unable to meet the demands," says Katarzyna Czubak, market analyst, Hardcopy Peripheral, IDC Australia.
