This IDC study examines the buying behaviour, purchase criteria, vendor preference and forecast spend for notebook PCs, tablet PCs, and smart handheld devices in Australian organizations with more than 250 employees. With the post Y2K refresh effectively ending in 2004 for the Australian market vendors and their channel partners must develop targeted strategies on a vertical and state-by-state basis. This study gives guidance on how end users forecast the market and provides strategies on a per vendor basis to gain share in the appropriate market segments. The results of this study are analyzed by vertical industry, by employee size, and by state.
Michael Sager, Market Analyst for PC Hardware, IDC Australia stated, "While there is notable growth in the notebook market in Australia certain vendors in the marketplace are poised to gain more than the competition based on end user feedback. Those vendors best able to address the issues and guidance given from customers from this study will be more successful over the coming twelve months."
