This IDC study examines the buying behaviour, purchase criteria, vendor preference, and forecast spend for servers in Australia organisations with more than 250 employees. With survey respondents indicating an increase in overall mobile device spend, vendors and their channel partners must develop targeted strategies on a vertical and state-by-state basis. This study gives guidance on how end users see the server market and provides strategies on a per-vendor basis on how to tackle the current dynamics in the server market and amongst various market segments. The results of this study are analysed by vertical industry, company size, and state.
"Australia organisations with 250+ employees continue to invest in server infrastructure though increasingly in systems that provide support to their core business processing systems. Areas that provide a competitive edge continue to be invested in vigorously include Web, supply chain, business analytics, but also in systems that maintain worker productivity and keep workers connected and efficient, providing the organisation with critical and timely data. Over the next 12 months, IDC sees much of the growth in the Australia server market coming from these two segments," states Chris Ward, market analyst, Asia/Pacific Enterprise Server and Workstations, IDC Australia.
