This study sizes the market for mobile handsets in Central and Eastern Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Mongolia from 2004 to 2009. It provides breakdowns by air interface (GSM, CDMA 800, CDMA 450, UMTS, and (D)AMPS). Breakdowns are given for each individual country. In addition, the GSM market is further sub-divided for each country between main city and the rest of the country.
"The mobile handset market in Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia has grown by leaps and bounds over the last few years. Growth is slowing, but Russia has taken its place as a key market in Europe and mobile uptake in some of the other CIS states is moving into the most rapid phase of the growth curve." - Simon Baker, Senior Analyst, IDC Russia.
