This IDC Study looks at the cloud services/computing strategies of the telecommunications providers in the Asia/Pacific region. These providers were chosen due to their recent announcements of getting into the cloud services space. "The paradigm shift from a capex to an opex model among organizations is creating a new economy with new business models and methods of doing business. Some of the fundamental benefits of cloud services also include services that scale efficiently and flexibility in terms of payments with a low startup capital cost. Ease of deployment and scalability are other driving factors in the adoption of cloud services. Telecom carriers should find the right partners and work together to create a win-win working model and a portfolio of service offerings that will enable them to meet the new demands of organizations," says Zarina Jabbar, research manager, Asia/Pacific Communications Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.
