"By the end of 2006, IDC expects there to be nearly 27 million digital cable subscribers in the United States with access to video on demand with annual revenues well above $1 billion," said Greg Ireland, research manager in IDC's Consumer Market's program. "VOD is part of an ongoing move from linear to on-demand content consumption. However, VOD is still facing numerous challenges, particularly as Internet video services compete for dollars and mindshare."
