In this presentation IDC describes five key customer issues regarding disk-based data protection. Four disk-based solutions are described: Disk-based backup, replications, virtual tape libraries (VTL), and continuous data protection (CDP). Customer quotes, driving home the point, highlight each presentation slide. In addition, IDC identifies branch-office data protection as the next investment customers are likely to make once the datacenter is under control. The presentation is based on a series of 24 in-depth interviews done in the first half of 2006. The material was originally delivered on November 3, 2006, at the Storage Networking World Conference in Orlando, Florida.
