This IDC insight focuses on the efforts by domestic service providers to sustain or even increase revenues in the face of declining tariffs for fixed-line services. Emphasis is given to recent product rollouts or changes in incumbent focus with respect to product positioning relative to changes in the domestic market. As the markets vary greatly across the individual countries in the Asia/Pacific region relative to the current regulatory environment, each country is broken out separately. General commentary on the current market atmosphere is supplemented by highlights of individual companies. For the purposes of this particular insight, global service providers with significant domestic assets in these markets have been omitted in order to focus more fully on the interaction between the domestic players. Though the focus is primarily on the domestic fixed-line market, in circumstances where domestic carrier's product positioning has been affected by the presence of global service providers (GSPs) or a high proportion of MNC customers, these issues have been addressed.
