"In 2005, we saw clear evidence of investment, CIO reporting line shifts, and hence the recognition that the IT division can provide enterprises with a competitive advantage. Although the pace is certainly not like that experienced in the 1990s, both Australia and New Zealand CIOs were cautiously optimistic with their budgets and the delivery of value through IT to the business. However, they continue to invest in those technologies and management disciplines that provide them with operational efficiencies as well as innovation enabling greater agility in their response to changing marketing conditions," says Catherin Bennett, director, IT Management Programme, IDC Australia and New Zealand.
