The projections in this study are based on a forecast model that blends proprietary AMI-Partners 2005 to 2006 research with public econometric data. The model incorporates current and historic results of AMI's end-user surveys, along with supply-side data and secondary research pertaining to the medium business market. This forecast provides coverage across key areas of AMI's IT and communications field research.

AMI-Partners produces forecasts annually that cover the two previous calendar years as well as five years ahead. The current forecast encompasses the period from 2004 to 2010 and is provided in a flexible, easy-to-use pivot-table format that enables users to view the data by whichever categories are required. AMI-Partners' forecasts are driven by data collected from nationally projectable samples of end-user firms included in its annual country surveys. Areas explored in these surveys include adoption and usage of a broad spectrum of information and communications technology (ICT) products and services, current/projected ICT spending levels, attitudes affecting ICT investment, and other ICT growth indicators. AMI applies weighting and proprietary algorithms to its primary data—controlling growth factors, statistical balance, and sample confidence. Macro-economic government data such as GDP and interest rate factors are considered, as well as relevant supply-side information. AMI-Partners' forecasts make use of the widest possible range of primary and significant secondary source materials available.

ICT forecast categories and sub-categories are shown below, arranged by number of businesses and by spending. The forecast provides a "firms pivot" and a "spending pivot." Also included in the forecast are ICT category definitions and listings of economic indicators with explanations of how these are used by AMI.
