Poland, an emerging economy, has been doing relatively well during the economic downturn, particularly compared to its neighbors and to more mature, Western European, economies. Nevertheless, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has lowered its GDP growth forecast for 2009 from 4.7% to 2.8%, and the European Commission expects GDP growth to decline by 1.4 percentage points year on year in 2009. Poland's economy has not yet fallen into recession. This insight analyzes the Polish telecoms market in the context of the global financial crisis and from both the point of view of both operators and customers.
