US demand to grow 4.3% per annum through 2010
US demand for insulated wire and cable is forecast to grow 4.3 percent annually to $21.5 billion in 2010, a rebound from declines early in the decade. An improved capital investment climate, as well as rising motor vehicle production levels and strong growth in nonresidential construction expenditures, will provide opportunities for wire and cable suppliers.
Product innovations will also help to boost demand, although pricing competition in the industry will remain intense. Furthermore, the sharp price increases of 2004 and 2005 are expected to be temporary, as costs for the raw materials which drove these increases drop off their highs.
