This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J6010103) analyzes the high-performance computing (HPC) market in 2005 by server product type, server system type, and by vendor, and looks into the market size and trends. This study also presents the market forecast from 2006 to 2010.
The HPC market in Japan in 2005 showed year-on-year growth of 5.6% to reach 56.981 billion yen. The market is expected to shrink to 41.813 billion yen in 2010.
"The HPC market in Japan is still dependent on the demand from universities and public research institutes. Vendors should try expanding the HPC market by encouraging new demand for computing among private companies," observes Ikuo Takafuji, research analyst, Server, IDC Japan.
