This IDC study analyzes the 2005 Japan router market and presents a market forecast for 2006-2010. In 2005, revenue grew 8.4% from the previous year to 154.42 billion yen. Cisco occupied the largest share in the market. IDC forecasts the 2006-2010 Japan router market compound annual growth rate (CAGR) at 3.9% based on revenue.
"The Japan router market will probably expand with carrier-/SP-oriented, high-end routers and business-oriented SOHO routers as core product segments. The key to capturing the high-end router market lies in the construction of carrier next-generation networks (NGN). Vendors should actively incorporate the functions required by carriers in their products and seek to improve their product performance," says Kenichi Kusano, market analyst, Network Equipment, IDC Japan.
