DSL and cable modem connections are the broadband workhorses of Latin American small and medium businesses (SMBs). SMBs typically cannot afford—and often do not need—dedicated internet facilities. To be sure, large enterprises use broadband for branch connections, small offices and remote access for home offices, but Yankee Group estimates that most DSL and cable modem connections are associated with SMBs— and this will grow strongly in the future.
