This IDC Flash examines the potential of Manila as a viable alternative to Bangalore in business process outsourcing (BPO) in light of IBM's recent opening of its multimillion-dollar business transformation outsourcing (BTO) Global Delivery Center in the Philippines. Of late, several large multinational companies (MNCs) such as EDS and Dell have joined IBM in setting up large BPO centers in Manila largely to serve the customer care segment for BPO services mainly to clients in North America. In this Event Flash, IDC examines some of the reasons companies are choosing Manila as an alternative location and assesses whether or not Manila has the potential to seriously challenge Bangalore to a piece of the BPO export pie.
