This IDC update presents the latest findings of our annual survey of the Mobile Advisory Council (MAC), Mobilizing the Enterprise, fielded in September 2006, to determine whether enterprise organizations have or have not deployed mobile applications.

In this Web-based survey, nearly 51% of the 564 respondents said they have mobilized at least one or more applications in their enterprise; 19.5% said they were in the midst of pilot testing their mobile application.

The decision makers driving the mobile deployment fall fairly equally between the IT/IS management staff (30.1%) and senior-level executives (29.7%). There is no question that those who deployed mobile applications perceive benefits such as worker productivity, information access, and improved customer service response time as some of the driving needs toward investing in the deployment.
