This IDC Presentation provides the results of in-depth interviews with 34 line-of-business (LOB) executives at nine companies regarding their alliance needs and practices. The study was designed to gather insight and information from the internal constituents of the centralized alliance function for IT organizations. In particular, IDC gathered information regarding alliance priorities, expectations, and practices. It's clear from the results that line-of-business executives believe alliances are very important to their success, and they perceive themselves as having high level of alliance competency (in fact, even higher than their own organization). The presentation provides specific insights plus a useful framework for alliance organizations to better understand their internal "clients" and potentially improve the lines of communication between a company's business unit and a centralized alliance organization. The presentation was given in December 2006.
