This IDC study presents CY05 server data broken down into three geographic areas: the Americas; Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA); and Asia/Pacific. Data is presented by leading vendor as well as by operating system. In addition, regional forecast data is presented from 2006 to 2010.

"Vendors headquartered in the Americas region control 87.4% of the value of server shipments in 2005. While opportunities exist for other EMEA and Asia/Pacific vendors to capture share away from the leading vendors, it most likely would occur in specific niche markets or the markets in which the vendor is headquartered," said Lloyd Cohen, research director, Enterprise Servers.
