From a multibillion dollar bidding war to nationalizations, the Latin American consumer telecom market is a rapidly evolving environment, and 2007 attested to this fact.

The consumer market continued to grow in 2007 with two key areas, mobile lines and broadband lines, which are set to increase steadily during the next few years (see Exhibits 1 and 2). Unique mobile users are approaching saturation as we are approaching the point where every person between the age of 14 and 75 would appear to have a mobile phone. But broadband has a long way to go, especially as PC penetration builds.still no iPhone.
