Europe’s production workflow software landscape has always been different from that of North America. The significant linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe has led to a software environment that is more fragmented, more local, and often more bespoke than the U.S. environment. For example, a local software company may deploy a solution for a major regional commercial printer, and that printer may be its largest single customer. This relationship is usually reinforced by generous ongoing support that sometimes makes the software company’s employees virtually de facto employees of the print service provider.
