The Emerging Service Delivery Revolution
New service delivery models are changing the way enterprises buy, manage and upgrade their information technology needs. Software as a service (SaaS), managed services and business process outsourcing (BPO) have emerged as opportunities for global enterprises to leverage new applications, technologies and business process expertise in a new effective and cost-efficient manner.
Yankee Group estimates SaaS currently represents less than 10% of all enterprise software purchases. Likewise, certain BPO segments such as human resource outsourcing are currently experiencing less than 10% penetration.
Within the next 5 years, the adoption of these new service delivery models will change dramatically. In fact, today more than 65% of new deployments of talent management applications, a subset of human capital management (HCM), are delivered “on-demand” in a software-as-a-service environment.
In this DecisionNote, Yankee Group will define these new service delivery models, including SaaS, managed services and BPO, and the effects that will ultimately change the way enterprises buy, deploy and use software and services.
