Saudi Arabia Consumer Electronics Report Q3 2009

Saudi Arabia’s domestic consumer electronics devices market, defined as including computing devices,mobile handsets, and video audio and gaming products, was estimated to be worth around US$3.6bn in2008.
This is expected to increase to US$4.7bn by 2013, driven by growing popularity of LCD TV sets,notebook computers and other key product groups, and by ongoing expansion of the retail sector.
Computers
Computer hardware accounted for around51% of Saudi Arabian consumerelectronics spending in 2008. BMIforecasts Saudi Arabian domestic marketcomputer sales (including notebooks andaccessories) of US$2.0bn in 2009, upfrom US$1.85bn in 2008. Computerhardware CAGR for the 2008-2013period is forecast at about 7%, driven bysales of notebooks and netbooks.
AV
AV devices accounted for around 30% ofSaudi Arabian consumer electronicsspending in 2008. Saudi Arabia’sdomestic AV device market wasestimated at US$1.1 bn. The market isexpected to grow at a CAGR of 5%between 2008-2013, to a value ofUS$1.36bn in that year.
