This study discusses the market for hardcopy peripherals ? single function and multifunction. It does not cover point-of-sale printers or small-format printers featuring widths of less than eight inches. Neither does it cover wide-format (A0) products, sometimes known as plotters. The forecasts contain data for the Saudi HCP market from 2008 through 2012. Unit shipment, value of shipment, and average street price (ASP) information is presented. Data for 2006?2007 is actual, whereas data for 2008?2012 is projected.
"The SMB segment remains under penetrated in Saudi Arabia, with minimal focus from vendors on tapping its huge potential. SMB users tend to purchase their HCPs from retail outlets, thus adopting basic printing devices such as SF printers when they could benefit far more from MFP solutions. Vendors should attempt to cut in and change this norm, pushing their sales forces to target SMBs in order to change purchasing habits." ? Mohammed Al Noueiri, Senior Research Analyst, IDC Dubai
