| The carrier Ethernet application segment addresses a wide set of carrier needs that require capabilities available on products that fall within traditional switching and routing, wired and wireline access, and optical networking technology segments. Carrier Ethernet spending is growing solidly and will continue to do so through 2014, driven by the growth in bandwidth requirements in the metro that comes with triple-play and 3G/4G wireless builds, the rollout of E-Line and E-LAN Ethernet services, and the associated need for both highly scalable and low latency solutions.
