At present, remote monitoring, which remains a concern in the conventional methods, is a dominant factor driving the significance of fiber optic methods, particularly in situations where the sensor and the instrument are placed at a distance of several miles. However, the impact of fiber optic products is likely to take at least another decade to overcome the growth of the mature conventional measurement equipment market.
