This IDC study examines the use of technology in telecommuter households. Products and technologies examined include telecommunications, PCs, printers, office equipment, LANs, and the Internet, from the perspective of the amount of time telecommuters spend at home as well as based on the size of the company for which the telecommuter works. Corporate support for telecommuting is also examined.
"There are currently nearly nine million telecommuters in the United States - people who work at home three or more days a month," says Merle Sandler, research manager in the SMB and Home Office programs at IDC. "Telecommuter households are well equipped with technology that enables workers to be more productive, and are obtaining increasing corporate support for their home offices."
