The disposable income of the average consumer has been an enormous barrier for some telecommunications
services in Latin America. However, new services are becoming popular faster now than they have in the last
decade. For example, mobile phones took more than 10 years to be adopted by lower socioeconomic strata
(SES), but internet and broadband are becoming popular in a much shorter period.
