Master data management (MDM) is receiving renewed attention in the marketplace. New technology solutions drive this increased focus as well as several other market drivers. "Global companies (which we see more of every day) often have multiple instances of enterprise applications, and this requires a single point of master data," said Rasmus Andsbjerg, senior research analyst, Business Intelligence and Analytics, IDC. "Also, MDM is required for hierarchy management when coordinating or rationalizing disparate dimensional models or hierarchies across systems. This is crucial for consistent reporting and performance management."
This case study describes how Telenor, faced with massive restructuring, experienced the benefits of an automated MDM solution in performance management.
