The transportation services industry group profile covers the air freight and logistics, airlines, marine, and road and rail industries. The air freight industry sector is defined here as consisting of revenues generated from freight and mail transportation by air excluding charter flights sales. The airlines industry is defined here as including only revenues from passenger air transportation. Flights sold on the same ticket are counted once and as such, each return journey (including open-jaw flights and multi-stop flights) is counted once. Where no return journey is booked, the single journey is counted once. The marine industry measures the total revenue generated globally from transportation of goods and passengers over water, either inland or over sea.
The rail and road industry covers the trucking and railroad industries. The trucking industry value is defined as including all revenues generated from the transportation of goods and passengers by road including rental and leasing of vehicles. The railroad industry value reflects revenues generated from passenger and freight rail transportation. All currency conversions used in this report are at the constant 2006 annual average exchange rates.
