This IDC Insight discusses the trend toward verticalization in consulting services and suggests that industry-specific rhetoric is no longer a sufficient differentiator for services providers, if it ever was. IDC believes that enterprises will continue to demand more services and solutions specific to their industries, and this will be the case across the spectrum of consulting services, from high-level business consulting to further-downstream IT consulting services. Thus, industry-specific rhetoric and IP are necessary but not sufficient ingredients for success in consulting services.
