INTRODUCTION

This brief provides a detailed view of the market penetration of five security technologies and gives an insight into enterprises' plans for investment in these areas. There is a discussion of enterprises' investment plans by geography and vertical as well as an insight into enterprises' security outsourcing preferences. This brief also provides information about mindshare of the leading vendors.

Scope

Analyses adoption of five security technologies and forthcoming plans for investment in Western Europe, North America and Australia. Provides an overview of solution penetration by geography and vertical sector. Assesses enterprises' security outsourcing preferences. Discusses mindshare of the leading security vendors.

Highlights

Penetration of firewall and VPN solutions is far ahead of the other security technologies and Datamonitor considers this market to be close to saturation. Although adoption has increased since 2006, the growth has been slow and a deceleration in this market may be expected as penetration reaches its limit over the next 24 months. Retail banks have over 75% adoption for all of the surveyed security technologies and the overall penetration of security should reach 100% in the near future. Bank security and fraud are increasingly high profile issues due to the increased automation of procedures and the use of the Internet for transactions. The two largest vendors, Symantec and Cisco, have almost 60% of the mindshare of the surveyed enterprises. This is most likely because both of these companies have strong brands and a large market share and in this respect they greatly overshadow the other vendors.

Reasons to Purchase

Understand significant trends in the security market in order to plan your go-to-market strategy. Find the geographical and vertical markets planning the most investments in security over the next two years. Understand enterprises' propensity for outsourcing and their view of the leading vendors.
