This IDC study presents survey results that highlight the intentions of organisations in Australia towards utilising the utility computing delivery model for procuring IT and business services.

"Vendors need a clear articulated strategy to target the various market segments and look at various adoption points for implementing a utility computing strategy such as when tackling peak loads or where organisations are looking at consolidation of systems. At this stage selling these services on a standalone basis would prove to be difficult and as the survey results show, some organisations may at present look at adopting this model as an extension within their outsourcing contracts only," says Aprajita Sharma, research manager, Outsourcing and BPO, IDC Australia.
