This IDC study is one of several that present the results of IDC's annual U.S. WAN Manager Survey. It examines the results from the first third of the survey, which deals with:
Voice/data integration
Applications driving network services consumption
Primary and secondary WAN technologies
This study then dives into great detail about the ports, port speeds, features, migration issues, and budget forecasts of U.S. enterprises' private line, frame relay, and ATM services. Results are broken out by company size (number of employees), number of sites, time zone, location of sites (U.S. only or multinational), and vertical market.
"IDC's 2005 WAN Manager Survey found that two-thirds of end users cited cost reduction as the primary driver of their organization's network expenditure plans." ? Steven Harris, research manager, Business Network Services
