This IDC study sizes and forecasts the market for business Internet access services in Western Europe. It presents IDC's estimates of current and projected market size for business Internet access by country, service type (dial, broadband, and leased line) and company size simultaneously, with leased line bandwidth splits and mobile worker Internet connections. End-user spending is similarly broken down by country, service type, and company size simultaneously, by leased line bandwidth and for mobile workers.
According to James Eibisch, research director, European Business Network Services, the study shows that the market overall is continuing to increase in terms of spending, but will flatten noticeably towards the end of the forecast period, 2008. Continued growth in spending is coming almost entirely from broadband (the sum of ADSL, SDSL, VDSL, and other DSL variants, Ethernet/FttX, cable, satellite, broadband fixed wireless, and powerline) with dial and traditional leased line spending in decline throughout the forecast period in most countries.
