"The traditional copier business model has changed. The revenue and profit potential for toner has never been higher, with most digital copiers now being installed as network print devices rather than the standalone copier. The amount of pages being printed on a copier device is considerable. When other factors, such as color printing, are encouraged then the potential for increased revenue is very high. Copier vendors are targeting the lucrative workgroup and departmental printer markets with simple software and solutions that will allow the IT departments to set their own printing parameters and optimize their own requirements," said Phil Sargeant, research manager, Imaging Hardware and Document Solutions.
