This document analyzes the Western European cable modem equipment market in 2005. It focuses on vendor market shares for both cable modem terminating equipment on the operator side and cable modems on the end-user side. Vendors' market shares are calculated according to unit shipments and end-user revenues. In addition, vendors' shares are broken down by country.

"Western European cable operators are increasingly offering VoIP services," said Jan Hein Bakkers, research manager at IDC. "This is driving replacement sales, as well as changing the sales mix and mitigating the decrease in price levels for cable modems."
