This IDC study examines the Western European LAN switch market in the first half of 2006 and analyzes the major segments and broad trends within that marketplace. Included in the review are figures for the Western European market size and the market share of the LAN switch vendors that participate in this marketplace.
"In the first half of 2006, the Western European LAN switch market declined both in terms of port shipments and revenues. The decline in LAN switch port shipments and revenues was caused by the fact that growth in the demand for Gigabit Ethernet LAN switches could not offset the decline in demand for Fast Ethernet LAN switches," said Peter Hulleman, research manager with IDC's European Telecommunications and Networking group.
