This IDC study answers the following questions:
What are IDC's predictions and assumptions relating to market forces affecting the Western European IS outsourcing services market, and what impact will they have on the market forecasts? What is the size of the opportunity for providing IS outsourcing services in Western Europe in 2006 and for the next four years? What are the key recommendations from IDC for maintaining and growing IS outsourcing services revenues in the coming years?
"As a result of market maturity the volume and value of IS outsourcing mega-deals is declining, but this is still an attractive segment for those vendors that can get their strategies right. IT service providers will need to focus harder on penetrating the midmarket space, in addition to developing more dynamic offerings to cater for changing client needs," said Jennifer Thomson, research manager, European IT Outsourcing and Infrastructure Services, at IDC. "Moreover, vendors will need to offer higher service levels as compliance with service levels alone is no longer sufficient to maintain high customer satisfaction and market leadership. Strong relationship governance, business value, innovation, and win-win scenarios are the current order of the day."
