This study provides Western European router shipment and revenue data for the full year of 2005 and compares it with that of 2004. Revenue and unit shipment market shares are provided for routers by country and vendor for 2005. The router market is analyzed for the following segments: high-end, midrange, low-end, SOHO, and small SOHO.

"In 2005 the Western European router market continued to benefit from the a rapid uptake of broadband subscriptions by consumers and businesses (especially small-to-medium enterprises) as many service providers bundle small SOHO routers with their broadband services," said Peter Hulleman, research manager with IDC's European Telecommunications and Networking Group.
