This study updates and provides further detail for the Western European WLAN equipment market, replacing the Western European WLAN Equipment Forecast Update, 2005-2010 (Doc #I63M, January 2006). This document also breaks out the WLAN forecast by country.
The study presents the latest forecast from 2006 through 2010 for the Western European wireless LAN market. It is segmented into add-on WLAN clients (PCI, PC cards, USB, non-PC applications, and other NICs), and WLAN infrastructure (access points, building-to-building access points, wireless switches/controllers, and wireless routers/gateways). Further segmentation is made into total revenue for home and enterprise equipment for the total Western European market.
"The infrastructure segment will continue to divide into consumer and enterprise equipment, and vendors should develop their strategies accordingly. In the consumer segment, broadband service providers continue to be the main promoter of wireless technology in the home, and therefore it is of utmost importance for vendors targeting this segment to close deals with these providers," said Evelien Wiggers, senior research analyst, IDC European Telecommunications and Networking.
