This IDC study looks at the major drivers of the archive and hierarchical storage management (HSM) software market from 2006-2010. "One of the biggest drivers of growth in this market is electronic discovery. Once firms have had to pay the price of doing restores from backup tapes in response to a discovery request, they start looking at developing a more proactive approach to longer-term archival of data," said Laura DuBois, research director for IDC's Storage Software program.
